The principal witness in the conspiracy case, during which the existence, oi a society for the murder of English^ men has been disclosed, stated that an effort waa. made by a prominent Egyptian official to in4uce him to withdraw allegations involving the alleged conspirators. The official has since left the Government service. The allegation has aroused very bitter comments among the British community.
