At Philadelphia, England's colours' were lowered in the first event of the University of Pennsylvania relay carnival, when Morgan, of the Oxford team, finished, a bad sixth in the two-mile international run, which Columbia won. Morgan started well, and led the field for nearly half the distance, but he gradually dropped back. . Oxford won the mile sprint medley, Stevenson finishing seven yards ahead. The British representatives were in the lead at 660 yards, but yielded at 880 yards, when Milligan, the Oxford captain, began reducing Georgetown's lead. Milligan leaped ahead in the last hundred yards, gaining a seven yards' lead, which Stevenson maintained to the last. The State College won the two-mile relay race, setting a new record of 7 mm 48 4-ssec. Oxford was second in a field of six four-men teams.
