UNEMPLOYED WOMEN
LONDON. 26th April. A hundred unemployed women marchr ed to Lambe.th Palace, told the Archr bishop oT Canterbury of their hopeless fight on tile twelve shillings a week dole, and pleaded fou a Government grant for training in homecraft centres. Miss Bondfield decla^e.d: "We have over a quarter of a.million workless women in. Britain. It. is impossible for all to be absorbed in • domestic service, even if they are fit." Miss Backer said they were not convinced that any, system was looking after emigrant worhen over? seas._ The ArchbishQp replied that cmii conditions were improving by leaps and bounds;.' ge.' promised .all tha aid possible.
