ELECTRICITY SUPPLY
THE COMING CHANGE-OVER
MR, EVAN PARRY TO REPORT.
The announcement was made by the Mayor (Mr; R. <&.. Wright, M.P.) on Tuesday afternoon that Mr. Evan Parry, formerly chief electrical engineer to the Government, who is at present visiting New Zealand, has been asked to prepare a report to the council dealing with tha change-over to the 230 volts standard in with the city's electricity supply. It had been anticipated that the council would at its meeting on Tuesdaycome to a decision as to who Should, bear the cost of the change-over, but Mr.' .Wright stated that it had'been decided to leave the matter to the incoming council, first of all getting an exhaustive report from Mr. Parry bearing on all aspects of the proposed change. "Thip thing is one of the biggest questions b\qp City Council liar.ever faced," said M|y Wright, "and beforft the council moves definitely it is imperative that it should obtain the highest expert advice. .That is why we have decided to ask Mr. Parry to submit a report. No delay will be involved, as the Mangahao hydroelectric supply will not be available fcefor* Juno of next year, if not later."
