THE AWARDS,
The awards made in connection with j the Autumn Show at Lower Hutt yesterday were aa follow:— Champion; bloom, amateur class.—A "J. S. Lloyd" chrysanthemum shown by Mr. H. Burrell. J j | Champion bloom, open class.—A "William Turner" shown by Mr. R. Miller. R.H.S. silver medals were awarded to Mr. A. M'Millan for his collection of dahlias, Mr. H. Poole and Mr. T. 'W.augh for collections of pot plants and ferns. R.H.S. bronze medals were awarded to Messrs. Evans and Sawyer, of Manakau, for a collection of perpetual flowering carnations and dianthus allwoodii, and to Mr. J. S. Dallenger for a collection of pot plants. The chief winners in the open class for chrysanthemums were: Messrs. S. T. Wakelin, W. Slater, P. Westbury, R. Pointon, R. Miller, and G. <W. Gaudin, Mr. S. T. Wakelin being the winner of the points prize; in the amateur section. Messrs. F. Burrell, T. H. Instone, G. W. Gaudin, W. A. Maxwell, J. Cottle, and J. W. Sinclair. The winner of the points prize was Mr. H. Burrell. In the novice section the winners were: J. M. Kershaw, F. Reynolds, and J. Elvines. Mr. G. Gaudin was awarded a second prize for six cactgs dahlias. In the dahlias, open.class, Miss Stupples, Miss Hector, Mrs. E. Pyne, and Mrs. J. SI. Power were the successful competitors. The only successful competitor in the general class (open) was Mr. H. Poole, who obtained three firsts. In the amateur section Mr. F. W. 'Ching was first for a folia.se plant. Mrs. E. Pyne was awarded a first for a collection of cut flowers in the cottage garden section. Mr. C. B. Reeve, of Paraparaumu, was awarded a B.H.S. bronze medal for a collection of apples, and he also obtained a first and second in the fruit section. Other successful exhibitors were: W. H. Smith, R. Bartosh, and Miss Hector. In the vegetables, open class, the winners were: Messrs. J. H. Mattan, J. G. Helyar, T. R; Foster, R. Pointon, F. W. Ching, and F. Gorrie. ' Vegetables, amateur class.—The chief winners' were : Messrs. J. G. Jefferies, J. Forrest, F. Reynolds, Mesdames J. M. Power. J. G. Helyar, E. Pyne, W. Johnson, E. V. Vauprhan, Messrs, F. W. Ching and F. Reynolds, and Mrs. E. F. Vaughan and H. Caldwell. The judge's award for the best decorated table went to M. Futter, the second ■ prize Being awarded to Mrs. A. W. Treseder, who was also successful in other items in the decorative class. The winners were: Mrs. G. W. Gaudin, W. Cooper, and Robert Gordon.
First and second places for the children's decorated tables went to Frances Hobbs and Nancy Burnley. Misses Frances Hobbs, Olive Dyke, Doreen Dyke, and Francie Cunliffe were also successful in the children's decorative class.
In the home industries class, for adults, the chief winners were: Mrs. R. Heyes. Mrs. E. .M. Presants, Mrs. Hursthouse, Mrs. A. Grierson, Edith Hnnke, Mrs. H. Caldwell, G. W. Wright, T. J. King, J. Stonehouse, A. Wilson, Miss E. Hardy. J. Alexander, E. B. Helyar, and Miss "Sector. In the home industries class, for children, Mollie Futter, . F. Pointon, Nola Gaudin, Ve'ra Dyer, and Clarice Holland were the winners.
Mrs. H. W. Kersley was responsible for the tasteful decorations on the front of the platform. Mr. Webley was in\ charge of the tea rooms, and Mesdames Eddy, Johnson, and Hendry did good service. Mr. M. Hodgins did splendid work as secretary to the society.
