ST. THOMAS'S SOCIETY ANNUAL
MEETING,
The report submitted to the annual meeting, of St. Thomas's- Horticultural ■Society chronicled record activities for the year- Fifty-four new members bad joined the society, and the number of financial members was 93, exclusive of vicepresidents. The chrysanthemum show held on 2nd and 3rd May last year produced a good financial result, although entries were not numerous. The January show was disappointing, and an appeal was made for greater interest next season. The 'finances, however, were satisfactory. In August the society affiliated with the Wellington Society, and at the spring show it came third for the "R. A. Wright trophy," and at the summer show third for the "Evening Post" trophy. In conclusion, the committee expressed the hope that the 25th year of the society's activities would be a memorable one.
The balance-sheet showed a healthy financial state.
The report and balance-sheet were adopted. Considerable' discussion took place upon the question of entrance fees, which were slightly amended. ' Mr. J. Harmer was unanimously elected a life member in recognition of many years' service. Arrangements were made for the chrysanthemum show on 3rd and 4th May. The Rev. Mr. Fancourt was re-elected president, Mr. Russell secretary, and' Mr. Salmon treasurer.
