AN ISLAND TRAGEDY
TWO AUSTRALIANS REPORTED MISSING. •., . t (It TELEGHAPH.—PRESB ASSOCIATION.) AUCKLAND, 11th April. A wireless message recently received from Ocean Island reported the disappearance of a boating party, comprising two members of the British Phosphate Commission and a native. The New Zealand Commissioner, Mr. Ellis, said today that the missing Europeans were Dr. Ridge Mills (a medical officer) and Mr. Greenway, both Australians. A's bad weather came up shortly after' they left the island on Good Friday it was surmised that their boat was either swamped or swept away by the strong current. In the latter case the boat might reach, the Gilbert Group, about 250 miles to the eastward. . The steamer Waihora spent some time in searching fruitlessly.
