Mr, R. H. Bartley, electrical engi-neer-to the borough of New Plymouth, has been appointed assistant engineer to the Auckland Power Board.

Mr. Cyril Bavin, national secretary, Migration Department, V.M.C.A., left for Auckland to-day. He will return to Wellington about tiie 17th instant.

Dr. E. Sidney Morris, Chief Medical Office? of. the Department of Health, Tasmania, is visiting New Zealand, accredited from his Government, and leaves Wellington to-day for Auckland.

A Press Association message from Napier reports the death of Mr. R. C. Magill, a • well-known Napier business man, who was seriously injured in a motor accident on the Napier-Taupo road on Good Friday.

Mr. Noel Elmslie, who has been appointed His Majesty's Trade Commissioner in New Zealand in succession to Mr. R. W. Daltou, is expected to arrive in Sydney by the Osterley on Thursday next, and is due 5n Wellington on the 24th. instant.

The Bey. H. W. Monaghan, M.A., of Pfthiatua, has been appointed vicar of Hawera, vice the Rev. R. Franklin, who leaves in June next. The Rev. ■ Mr. Monaghan was formerly vicar of Ross, South Westland. He was educated at Wellington College and Victoria College, and' received his theological training at St. John's College.
