PROHIBITION AND REVENUE
CONSTANTINOPLE, 9th April. The Ottoman Public' Debt Commissioners have objected to Prohibition on the ground that it would causa a Idss of revenue amounting- to £4,000,000 annually.
Absolute prohibition of alcoholic liquors began last month, by order of the Angora Gdvernment, which is re-shap-ing the affairs of Turkey. The penalty* for breach of the law is 30 strokes of the bastinado.
Turkey's finances since 1920 have been controlled by a Finance Commission composed of representatives of Great > Britain, Prance, and Italy.
