The Marlborough and Napier Park Meetings will be co.ntinued to-morrow. The Australian Cup winner, Prince Cox, was successful in the Woodclitf Handicap, one mile and throe furlongs, ! on the concluding- day of the V.A.T.C. Meeting. He was ridden by J. Munro, who was suspended for a month, other- j wise he would have Had the mount in the Australian Cup. Prince Cox ran in . the nomination of Sir Samuel Hordern i and Mr. "Constable." Messrs. Marett and Fox, of Napier, will have charge of the totalisator arrangements at the forthcoming meeting of the Masterton Racing Club. Blue Socks beat Blackhead on the concluding day at Kelson and again at Blenheim yesterday, but had to be content with second place to Gluement, by Gluten—Astonishment, a . six-year-old, whose first win it was. The annual batch of yearlings by Boniform and brood mares from the Waikanae Stud for the Sydney Easter sales -will be shipped by the Marama on the.23rd inst. The colts include a full-brother to Sciou, and the fillies are by Martian, Absurd, ! Kilbroney, and Boniform. The matrons are by Martian, Absurd, Demosthenes, Boniform, Bezonian, Winkie, All Black, and Birkenhead. In the Dash Hack Handicap ,at Blenheim yesterday Mr. J. J. Corry, the local owner, ran first and second with Jonquil and Zany. The three-year-old gelding Killashandra. (Kilbroney—Symbolism), and Sunny Spec- (Sunny Lake—Kinsale), who have been purchased by Australian buyers, were shipped to Sydney by the Ulimaroa to-day. The Trentham-trained Martinique (King Mark—Martina) ran second on the concluding day at Nelson, and went one better at Blenheim yesterday, where he j won the Novice Hack Race, beating Entre Nous, the half-sister to Silver Link. The other place-getter, Axle, was also in the money at Nelson. The Victorian autumn carnival will be brought to a conclusion to-morrow when the Gibson Carmichael Stakes, Leonard Stakes, and King's Plate come up for decision. The latter is a weight-for-age race, distance two miles. Mr. H. W. Brown scored his second win in Sydney at Canterbury Park on 24th February, when Spook won the Jumpers' Flat Race. The same day Wrangle ran second in a division of the Flying Handicap. At Blenheim yesterday Mr. W. H. Ballinger, the Wellington owner, won a double with Jackaroo and Stream. The latter is by Treadmill from Ahaupai, and was bred by his owner. S. Anderson, the well-known lightweight, leaves to-day for a trip to Australia. Ifc was rather unfortunate for Mr. C. Glass, owner of Cheer Up, that after winning the Marlborough Cup he should fail to draw the weight and be disqualified. There -were similar happenings earlier in the season at Kurow, where Jackaroo's owner got a stake through the rider of Sweet Memory failing to draw the weight, and at Wanganui, where Mark Time's rider failed to draw the weight and the stake went to the owner of Bonibrook. Mr. W. R. Kemball intends to be represented at the A.J.C. Autumn Meeting, and is sending. Insurrection and Trespass across by the Ulimaroa to-day in charge of W. Hawthorne. ." Owners and trainers of horses engaged at the Masterton Meeting- on the 17th inst. are given a* final reminder that acceptances close to-night at 9 o'clock with Mr. T. R. Southall, secretary. The Wairarapa P«acing Club is the first to relieve owners of the heavy burden of taxation under which they are suffering. It is announced in the abridged programme of the club's Easter meetx'ng, which appeared in last night's issue, that the 10 per cent, tax on stakes will be paid by tli6 club: The principal events to be decided on Easter Saturday and Monday are the Easter Handicap, of 400 soys, and the Autumn Handicap, of 300 soys. Nominations for all events close on Monday next at 8 p.m. with Mr. C. J. Carlyon, secretary. The Australian Cup winner, Prince Cox, is one of Mr. J. Baron's breeding, by Prince Foote, who was the best three-year-old of his year and won the Melbourne Cup, Victoria Derby and St. Leger, Australian Derby and St. Leger. Sweet Cup, dam of Prince Cox, is by imported Trussing Cup from Ortelle, an imported, mare by Orvieto. Last season Princo Cox was sold to Mr. P. .J. Cox, in whose ownership he won a, race at Warwick Farm. He also ran second in the Summer Cup at Randwick, after which he was. sold to Sir Samuel Hordern, one of the best sportsmen in Australia. It was in the latter's colours he won on Tuesday.
