SOLDIERS' FARMS
WORK OF INQUIRY BOARDS.
In reply to a question by a respresentative of "The Post", to-day concerning the progress of the work of the Soldier Settlement Inquiry Boards, the Hon. D. H. Guthrie, Minister' of Lands, stated that from the information supplied to him by the Under Secretary of Lands, he was, of the ojpinion that the Inquiry ■Boards of the South Island should complete their duties by the end of April. In some of the smaller districts the inspection work 'is practically completed and the Inquiry Boards should be in a position to discuss the reports with.the Lnnd Boards in the near future. There is a greater volume of work in the North Island, and the travelling facilities are not so good; consequently the.work of the Northern Boards is not so far advanced as the work in the South. Tiie North Island Boards, particularly Auckland, North Auckland, and Wellington, will require a few months' extension ,of time in which to submit reports. Tlie whole of the boards had worked steadily since taking up their duties, and the Minister was sure tho work would be completed and tiio reports discussed with the Land Boards at the earliest opportunity. .
