GENERAL SIR OWEN THOMAS.

(UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION.—KJOPTRKJHT.) (AUSTRALIAN - HEW ZEALAND CABLE ASSOCIATION.) . _ LONDON, 7th March. Brigadier-General Sir Owen Thomas M.P., is dead.

Born in 1858, General Thomas had a varied career. He won prizes for farming and stock breeding, sat on agricultural commissions in England, the Transvaal, and East Africa, was employed by the Board of Trade to inspect life saving apparatus at sea, raised a volunteer battalion and served in the Boer War, raised 10 seivice battalions in Wale's in 1914-15, and commanded brigades, and was a member of Lord Milner's mission to Egypt in 1919-21. He entered Parliament as an Independent in 1918, and retained his seat last November.
