PETONE BOROUGH COUNCIL.

The fortnightly meeting of the Petone Borough Council was held on Moriday.

The Gas Board recommended a small extension of the street lighting period to two extra days per month. It was decided to accept the suggestion and also to give discretionary power to the responsible officer to further extend the days on which the lamps shall be lit.

The Rugby Union was granted permission to erect a stile at the Gasworks entrance to the Recreation Ground, the stile to be the property of the union on tho termination of its lease.

The Wellington Harbour Board agreed to renew the council's waterworks and town clock loan of £2400 for a further period of five years at 6 per cent. It was decided to hold over the matter, the town clerk in the meantime to report on the question of repaying the loan.
