THE BIG SHOOT

N.R.A. ANNUAL MEETING AT TRENTHAM. Preparations are now well in hand for the big shoot at Trentham in connection with the first annual meeting of the National Rifle Association,- which commences on Thursday next. Competitors are arriving from all parts of the Dominion,' and the old camp will present a busy scene for some days. The programme will commence early on Thursday morning, all the competitors parading at 8 o'clock to be addressed by the president, Colonel Collins, and by Mr. R. Coombes, of Sydney, who is taking a keen interest in the contests. Mr. Coombes had hoped to bring over an Australian team to compete, but unfortunately the date of the meeting clashed with one of the big events in Victoria, and he was obliged to abandon the idea. The first match on Thursday will be for riflemen who have never won a prize of £1 or more. Practice targets will be available from 9 a.m. to-morrow for the use of competitors from outlying districts where long-range targets are not available.

The annual meeting of the National Rifle Association will be held on Monday next, also the annual meeting of the rifle club competitions.
