PIGEON RACE
Or. Saturday last, the Wellington Homing Pigeon Society held a young-bird race from Frarikton Junction (245 miles air-line). The race resulted as follows: —Mr. R. Lamb's red ch. cock, 1923 \V . >123 (time of arrival on second day, 11.32 a.m.), 1; Mr. J. H. Clark's blue, ch. hen. 1923 W. (12.30). 2; E. Newson's blue ch. hen, 1923 W. (1.47 p.m.). 3; Mr. J. Bruce's blue ch. hen. 1923 \V. (2.58 p.m.), 4; Mr. R. Hastie's blue pied hen, 1923 W. (5 p.m.), 5. Owing to the very unfavourable weather prevailing throughout the first 200 miles of the journey, these were the only arrivals in nice time. The winner receives tl» trophy donated by Mr. K. Kiu-reil : :ho second prize winner receives M:\ U. Hastie's trophy.
The. concluding race of No. L hamper will be flown from Auckland 'kii ai,li:*e disUrce of 315 milet) or. lOti' March.
