A.C. MACLAREN'S COMMENT ON NELSON
CONTRAST WITH FREEMAN'S VIEWS. (BI TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.) NELSON, This Day. In regard to A. C. MacLaren's cabled comment on the Nelson match, it is recalled that Freeman, after the game, asked if it was the weakest team they had met, said : "No, not by a long chalk. You have some, good cricketers. _ Saxon, 63, is a fine bat, and so also is Kemnitz. Neale was unlucky, after appearing set, to be out for the best catch of the tour. Newman, with coaching, would be a first-class bowler." The manager, Mr. Swan, as he was leaving, said : "You have given us a fine time here. You have some good material." MaeLaren did not visit Nelson.
