CONFERENCE RESOLUTIONS.

Coking, Drapers' Chamber of Trade, London; and the following members of the. Wellington Association were also present: Messrs. W. J. Queree. H. Linney, L. Evans, W. F. Hornig, J. T. Church, W. F. Macklin, J. 0. Smith, H. C. Foster, A. S. Morgan, J. Leuchars. The conference unanimously passed the following resolutions: — Municipal Trading: "That the New Zealand Federation of Drapers and Clothiers make representations to the Government for the purpose of securing legislation making it mandatory that State and public bodies, where engaged in enterprises which are in competition with ratepayers, shall pay rates upon premises, and also land and income tax, in tlie same manner as if they were private traders; and that it shall be obligatory upon State and public bodies that an annual balance-sheet and profit-and-lws account relating to each enterprise shall be published."" Deletion of Half-holiday ou Election Day: "That Government be asked to amend the Legislature Act by deleting tlie provision requiring shops to observe a half-holiday on the day of election, and that tlie provision or Uio Act relating to factories be made to apply also to shops."
