HIGH COSTS AND THE PRICE OF

PAPERS.

The annual meeting of the -Newspaper Proprietors' Association was resumed at tho Dominion Farmers' Institute today. A deputation was received from the New Zealand Federation of Drapers.

The selling price of newspapers was discussed, and it was resolved: "That, in view of the probable hardening of the market for newsprint paper in the immediate future, and of heavily increased cost in other directions in the production of newspapers, this association is of the opinion that it would be unwise at present to consider any reduction in selling price of newspapers; but that a special meeting be held to consider the question when new quotations for newsprint are announced in June." The following officers were elected for the ensuing year :—President, Mr. C. W. Earle; general committee, Messrs. C. W. Earle, A. G. Henderson, C. S. Smith, W, C. Leys, W. J. Blundell, E.
