SIMIAN INTELLIGENCE
MONKEY CATCHES BURGLAR.
(Received 12th February, 1 p.m.)
PARIS, 10th February. A remarkable story of Simian intelligence credits a small monkey, named Caleb, with having captured a burglar. Caleb's owners returned to their flat and found the door open and the rooms disordered, with the monkey sitting before the locked door of a large cupboard. Caleb refused to budge, until his master, suspecting the facts, seized a revolver and unlocked the cupboard. A cry of "Don't shoot!" was heard and a man was revealed standing inside with his hands up. He explained that he had entered the cupboard for the purpose of stealing the contents, when the monkey crept up, locked the door and mounted guard till his master's return. The burglar was handed to the police. Caleb disappeared and has not been heard of since.
