A DIVIDED VERDICT

Conclusion was reached at the Supreme Court on Saturday in the case in which Arthur Edwards and Margaret Edwards proceeded against Harold St. John Walton and Barbara Walton for damages for alleged slander and trespass, tile total amount claimed being £550. Mr. Justice Hosking presided: Mr. J. S. Hannan appeared for plaintiffs, and Mr. A. W. Blair for the defendants.

The jury, after a lengthy retirement, returned at 6 o'clock on Saturday evenint; with a verdict of £20 for the plaintiffs on the trespass issue, and a verdict lor the defendants on thu slander issue.

Legal argument was heard this morning as to the terms on which the judgment should he entered, and his Honour reserved his decision.
