[Professor Roentgen was 77 years old. The Roentgen rays, named by him the X-rays, are a peculiar kind of radiation which he discovered in 189S; they are produced, andev suitable conditions, by electric discharge in vacuum tubes. Professor Roentgen contributed to science on specific heat in gases, electricity, compressibility, capillarity, and the absorption of heal, in steam and gases.]
