•The foundation-stone of the new borough gas works was laid by the Mayor, Mr. J. ,A. Nash, M.P.7 who reviewed the history of gas enterprise locally, and congratulated the ratepayers on the new woi'ks, which, he hoped, would be sufficient to meet the demands for many years to come.
