THE HOLE IN THE TOE
A stocking there was with a hole in the toe — It belonged to a girl who was lazy and ', slow— And when ehe was told to mend it would say, "Oh ! I can't darn the hole in the stocking to-day." At last it happened on Christmas Eve She hung up her stocking some toys to . receive: Then she T«ll fast asleep, and did not know . That. ehe'd hung up the. one with the hole in tho. toe ! . . And. when she awoke she had a surprise, I'or a long, empty stocking greeted her eyos— Except nt the top of it, just meide, Was a packet of needles, oarofully tied. The rest of the thing 3 Father Christmas had sent Had slipped through tlio hole—no one knows where they went; So mend all your stockings—you never know, "You might hang up one with a hole in the toe.
