MANY OASES ADJOUBNED.,

When thirty-eix cases taken by the Inspector of Awards (Mr. A. T. Bailey) against seamen on the grounds that they were parties to a strike, were.called before Mr E. Page, S.M., at the Magistrate s Court this morning, Mr. D R Hoggard, representing the seamen, intimated that it was not intended to appeal against the convictions entered ai"stP. Manson of £he Wainui, and N. M'Kmnon, of the Kahika, on whom Mr. Page last week inflicted .penalties of £2 each on the grounds that they were parties to a strike. Mr. Hoggard further stated that the defendants were prepared to.accept the evidence against Manson s and M'Kinnon as applying to themselves. So far as the cases against seamen, firemen, and greasers from the Maungamii,-Hawera, Kapiti, Maori, Ngahere, and Ripple were concerned, they would prefer that stand over until after the holidays. Mr. Hoggard said he was not. He was prepared to admit the., evidence, and realised that a conviction would follow.

His Worship thereupon gave judgment for the plaintiff in each case, and inflicted penalties of £?, with costs 13s 6d against the following men of the Wamui: H. White. J. Law, M. M'Leod, N. Morrison, and F. Shorter; and of £2 and costs 15s 6d against the following men from the Kahika: H. Ogles, A. Kreig, and K. Lundon.
