MILLIONS AT STAKE

LEGAL COSTS TOTAL £50,000.

(VNIIIB PRESS ASSOCIATION.—COPTRIOHT.)

SYDNEY, 14th December.

The wool tops case has concluded, the High Court dismissing the claim by the Colonial Combing, Spinning and Weaving Company for a million sterling from the Central Wool Committee, and the Government's cross-claim for £250,000 from the company. The judgment stated that certain agreements under which the companies came together were invalid, therefore both claims must fail. After a conference of the counsel for both parties regarding costs, which '.amounted to £50,000, at which an agreement was arrived at, the Court entered judgment for the committee, and on the cross-action judgment for the company. The company was ordered to pay costs, but really only £2000 will change hands, which is the company's loss.
