POWDERED COAL FOR POWER
One of the firet electric power itationa in Great Britain to;use powdered coal aa fuel was a large municipal station in London. The installation was designed to serve a very largo boiler,. and the results have been so successful that additional plant to serve three more largo boilers is to be put down. The main feature of this British installation is that it has enabled coal of a very poor quality to bo burnt very eoonomicaily. The coal is ground to a fine powder, which is then forced into tho furnace, where, owing to the minute siz-a of eaoh jierticle, exceptionally complete combustion takes place.
