SCHOOL BAZAARS

The bazaar held in connection with, the campaign to raise fnnde for the improvement of the grounds at the Berhampore State School was brought to a close last evening. The voting in the Queen Carnival contest resulted in favour of Gladys Lowe, Standard V., with 8487 votes. The sum of £504 was received in votes, and it is anticipated that the financial result at the close of the coronation, which will take place on the 15th inst, will bring in a total of £520, which must be considered a very creditable result of the campaign. A bazaar to raise funds for the completion of improvements to the playing areas for the children was opened in the Weld street (Wadestown) school yesterday by the Mayor and Mayoress (Mr. and Mrs. R. A. Wright). Toys are a special feature of the bazaar, and good business is being done; The stall-holders are:—Plain and-fancy stall, Mesdames Prince, Lindsay, and Watkins; flowers, Mrs. Corkhill, and Mr. Walker; handkerchiefs, Mesdames Stanaway, Golding, and Hutton; sweets, Mesdames Jacks, Thomson, and Lewis; ice-creams, Mrs. Patman; afternoon tea, .Mesdames Parlane, Jones, Firett, and Wiffen; produce, Mesdames Curtis, Stewart, Cook, Cooper, and Miss Kelly; soap, Mr. Benjamin, Miss Richmond, and school boys; men's stall, Messrs. Lindsay, M'Donald, and Prince; jumble stall, Messrs. Owen and Golding; Christmas tree, Miss J. Putt, and Mr. Corkhill; bran tub and fishpond, Mesdames Sufiton and Parlane; guessing competitions and art unions, Messrs. Parlane, Barry, and Kirk; cakes. Mesdames Hill and Benjamin, and Miss Putt. The bazaar is being continued this afternoon and evening.
