(AUSTRALIAN - NEW ZEALAND CAILS ASSOCIATION.)

(Received 2nd December, 11 a.m.)

WASHINGTON, Ist December.

Believing that the recent- elections showed a national dissatisfaction with the, present political leaders and their methods, Senator La Follette called a meeting of Progressives, for the purpose of forming a definite bloc in the next Congress. Thirteen senators and 21 members of the House of Representatives attended. While disavowing any intention to initiate a third party, motions were presented for the organisation of a bi-partisan bios in both the House and the Senate, with tub-com-mittees 'to work in framing legislation. It is announced that the organisation is pledged to drive special privilege out of Government, and restore it to the people. A national campaign will, be started for the abolition of the. electoral college, the establishing of open and direct primaries, and the enactment of a Corrupt Practices Act. The Progressives will also seek reforms "regarding agriculture, labour, railways, shipping, natural resources, and taxation.
