T) Lord Deeies said in a speech to the Federation of Merchant Tailors, giving- that as the reason why the present generation of men is "a. shabby one." Lord Deeies is the husband ot the former Mies Vivien Gould, of New York.
Contimiinfr hie remark^ Lord Deeies explained:— "The suit of clothes contemplated for the autumn is never ordered. ■But the old suit is cleaned and pressed and made to do service for another season. And so the reproach lias fallen on the nation's manhood that they are losing wieir smartness. Men are compello to cut down thoir expenditure for clothes in order to meet the taxes on their incomes." Mora bluntly, Donald Bradley, London, known as the philosopher tailor, put the case thus:—"Women will never allow men to dress well or to take clothes seriously There is not enough money in the domestic, treasury for both in these days of high income tax. ""Som? day men will toko the matter into (heir own hands and say, 'With a great effort I obtained this freedom,' nnd make- up their minds to dress well."
