MR. FRASER AT ARO STREET.

.' Mr. P. Fraser, the Labour Party's candidate- for Wellington Central, addressed a crowded meeting at the Aro,. Street Mission. Hall last night. During the course of a lengthy address, the candidate dealt with the country's finances, and severely criticised the Government's financial policy, which, he said, had not been in the', interests of the great body of the people. He .referred to..the increased national debt,- the cost of living, housing, unemployment, and education. Referring to the latest cut made by the Arbitration Court, he stated that the judgment of the Court was exceedingly weak. In order to arrive at its decision the Court had taken into account the three food groups only. Rents, fuel, lighting, and clothing should enter into the calculation, and if they did the Court would have been able^ to give to the workers a more acceptable Christmas present. Mr.' Fraser devoted much time to a comparison of the Liberalism of Ballance, Grey, and Seddon to that of the present party. He referred more particularly to the "present industrial trouble and to the land policy. Mr. Fraser answered a number of questions, and a vote of thanks and confidence was carried by a show of hands.
