M'CONACHY'S BRILLIANT PERFORMANCE.

M'Conachy's claim to recogni< tion as one of the world's most brilliani ' cueists was supported yesterday during the progress of his exhibition game by, / the largest: break that.has ever been.. , recorded in New' Zealand," and the third ; largest break in the world, under tho. existing rules governing the. game. Tho! notable achievement extended over. tB» afternoon and evening sessions, and wa» ■witnessed by a large crowd, of spectators in the Albert Billiard Room.- -The champion reached a total .of 1182, Aviich' has only twice been eclipsed under 'tha ■ present rules, by two of the.,world's most prominent billiard players, Walter T.indrum and Tom Newman. The latter ha» a break of 1274 to his credit, and Lindrum in his match with Stevenson a few months ago in Sydney put on a total of 1417, in one hand. M'Conachy's previ-< ous best break was 1083, made in Tim-1 aru about 10 years ago on an ordinary pocket table. The champion received hearty congratulations for his great per- . formance, which included 1066 off;tha red. When the session concluded ■M'Conachy was still showing fine form,! having ■ 150 unfinished. The game is being continued this afternoon and evening. :
