YACHTING
EVANS BAY SEASON OPENED.
Ideal weather conditions attended the opening of the Evans Bay Yacht and Motor Boat Club's Beasoh on Saturday afternoon, when approximately 500 visitors were present. The clubhouse and yachts made a fine chow with their decorations.
■ Among the visitors Were the commodore of the Royal Port Nicholson Yacht Club (Mr. W. Duneati) and the vicecommodore (Mr. ~ Berkeley Clarke), the commodore of the Heretaunga B6ating; Club (Mr. J. M'Douald), and Mrs. M'Uonald, Mr. T. W. M'Donald. and Mr. T. Forsyth. The opening ceremony w»s perfomed^ by Mr. A. A. George, patron of the club, and Mr. J. Patterson, president.. In the course of his opening remarks, the president warmly welcomed tho visitors. Commodores Duncan and M'Donald, who responded, referred to tho Sanders Cup trials, And the heed for' raising funds to finance the Sending of the Wellington representative to Auckland to compete at. the _ finals. Mr. M'Donald extended an invitation to owners of J'aehtS and motor-boats lb visit the tteretaunga Club before the season closed. Afternoon tea was followed liy a comprehensive programme of aquatic sports, in which keen interest was shown. Fathei 1 Neptune was present, and many: had to submit to the razor. The Caledonian Pipe Band played during the ufternoon. . • .- Visiting yachts from ths ft.P.N.Y. Club included Wylo, Marangi, Rons, Viola, Seabird, Galatea, And Kotitl 11/ The Heretaunga Boating ■ Club was represented by Irex> A danco in the clubhouse in the evening brought a very successful opening day to a close.
