ASSAULT ON A MOTORMAN
The conduct of George Parrs, when he boarded a tramcar bound for Thorndon, resulted in his appearance before Mr. E. Page, S.M., yesterday, to answer three charges of assault on William Reilly, the use of obscene language, and obstructing a inotorman in the execution of his duty. The accused, who pleaded guilty, had jumped on the car at the motorman's end, arui when requested to go insiue, refused. The heated argument which followed resulted in Paris striking the driver and interfering with the driving gear. It was mentioned by Senior Sergeant Lander that the Tramway Corporation viewed with concern any attempt to interfere with their motormen.
For the assault Paris was fined £2 and costs, and on both other charges was convicted and ordered to pay costs.
