EASTBOURNE AFFAIRS
MEETING OF BOROUGH COUNCIL.
The Eastbourne Borough Council met last evening, the following being present : —Mr. F. H. Mather (in the chair), Councillors T. Pilcher, C. Green, C. A. Marquis, H. D. Bennett, C. Hartridge, H M'Gill, and T. H. Giles.
The general manager reported that maintenance -work had been done in various parts of the borough, and the footpath on the western side of Orjia stteet had been graded and gravelled. Fifty yards of shingle had been carted oa to the site of the pavilion. On the reserves, rolling and cutting of the grass had been continuous. The Wellington Cricket Association had agreed to rent two wickets for the season, at a rental of £20, and the necessary seating accommodation had been provided. A satisfactory lease had been entered into for a strip of land 12ft wide to complete the tennis courts. At the coal depot, receipts totalled £747 Is 6d, the expenditure amounting to £574 13s lid.
Several requests for subdivision were referred to the General Purposes Committee for report. The Hutt Electric Power Board wrote asking for the appointment of a representative of the council to confer with them in regard to amount of current required and other matters. The letter was referred to the General Purposes Committee.
