Museiun, of Copenhagen, the.work is proceeding, of •bringing to light a boat built. in the' Iron Age, which wae recently discovered in 3 bog in the-Island .of Alsen, oh.'the east .coast of Sjesvigj says a- correspondent of the "Daily MaiL"-
'. The owner of the bo^, hasi known of the existence of the boat for years, but as he did ,'not wish it to be taken to 'the museum at Kiel, he and the people of the neighbourhood kept their knowledge secret, and revealed it only when the island in 1920 again became. Danish.
A few days ago the Swedish archaeologist, Dr. Lindtequist, and the Dutch archaeologist, Dr. van Stei» C&llenifeis, visited, the boat. According to these experts, the boat is the' oldest in Existence.
A largo part of if has been exposed, and during the work of recovering it a, great number of various antiquities, such as spearheads of iron and bone, and 1 shields, a fragment oi chain-mr.il., aad clubs, have ,been found.
The boa.t dates probably from the beginning of the second century and has been badily d'aamgiecl by peat makers. The work of digging it out will be finished in a few weeks. :
