The Commonwealth Auditor reports that the net profit, for the year ended 30th June, 1921, on the Commonwealth steamers was £102,948. The previous profit was £2,201,493, but the total loss on the wooden ships 1 amounted to £2,051,000.

[A cable message yesterday stated that a Bill was being introduced to Appoint a board of directors to take control of the Commonwealth line of steamers, so placing them beyond political control.]
