EARTHQUAKE IN AUSTRALIA
{UNITED PH3SS ASSOCIATION.—COPYKIMIT.)
SYDNEY, 12th October
The seismograph at Riverview recorded an earthquake shock. It was too indistinct to locate the exact position, but it is apparent that a big disturbance occurred about 8000 .miles away. A fairly severe earthquake was felt at Morphett Vale, in South Australia. It lasted three seconds, making the houses creak. No damage was done. ■
The shock was preceded by a heavy rumbling sound, and Mlewad by a bviof ialu squall.
