PROMPT DESPATCH OF REINFORCEMENTS
The signing of the 'Military Convention of Mudania marks the passing of the war cloud in the Near East, for a time at any 'rate, if not for good and all. How near the cloud came to break is told by General Haringtoh himself in a dramatic passage, which will become historical. "What saved the situation is further explained by. the distinguished soldier in his tribute to the forbearance of the British soldier and to the promptitude of the British Government in sending reinforcements without delay. This should put Mr. Lloyd George on side again The Near East Conference, which should wipe up outstanding troubles in a very troublesome locality, is fixed for Scutari, to begin on Ist November.
