COMMUNITY SINGING
MEETING OF EXECUTIVE
COMMITTEE.
A meeting of the 'Community Singing' Committee was held at the Town Hall last evening, Mr. C. Webb presiding. Others present were :—Messrs. A. L. Wilson, Harcus Plimmer, J. R. Samson, W. H. Long, G. W. Hughes, J. E. Perry, and W. E. Caldow.
It was decided to hold a song competi.tion, details as to prizes, conditions, and expenditure were agreed upon. Mr. W. E. Caldow ■was delegated to carry out the arrangements.- ' It was decided to hold the next meeting early in March, when the membership of the committee will be revised, and the work of the year. 1923 will be, discussed. . x
The president in a brief speech said the enterprise they had embarked upon had been a success in every way and he felt sure that the popularity of community i singing would be just as great next year. The success of the venture was in a large measure due to the kindness and interest taken by the Mayor, Mr. R. A. Wright. The committee had every causa to congratulate itself on tlie success of its efforts and in concluding he paid a tribute to th( 'general public who had assisted the song,leaders in every way; it ha<3 been a great pleasure to him to act in- that capacity, and he looked forward to the happy hours which, he felt sure,, the ■ "sings" would provide next session.
