PARAMOUNT AND ARTCRAFT.
The new programme this evening at the Paramount and Artcraft Theatres will be headed by "The Referee," with the . popular Conway Tearle in the lead. Briefly, the story tells of a boxer who holds the middleweight championship of the world, but he is injured in a motor accident, and his boxing career ends. He becomes a referee, and later is asked to countenance a crooked fight, which he refuses to do. Tho picture has a most sensational climax. The second feature on the bill is " Rough Shod," a drama of the west ■with Charles Jones in the leading role. This film is said to contain one of the finest cowboy stories yet seen. Included in tho programme will be the final screenings of the 8.8.8. (Beauty by Biograph) competition. The supporting pictures include several notable films, amongst which are the usual Gazettes.
