COUNTERFEIT MONEY
ALLEGED COINER CHARGED,

AUCKLAND, This Day. Thomas Nelson Millars wa6 charged at the Police Court to-day with having made counterfeit coin with intent to make it pass for current silver coin, and was remanded till 19th October.
The Chief Detective opposed the application for bail. He said that counterfeit coin had been circulating throughout the Dominion for some months, and quite a lot of counterfeit coin was found on the premises where the accused was arrested. The accused had admitted that he had freely circulated counterfeit coin about the city. The charge was laid under "the section of the Crimes Act which made a person • convicted liable to imprisonment for life.
Mr. Poynton, S.3VL, fixed bail at £1000.
