Wind—C, calm; L, light; Br, breeze; FB, fresh breeze; MG, moderate gale; G, whole or heavy g«le; W, gale of exceptional severity. FORECAST. At 9 a.m. to-day the following forecast vas Issued for the subsequent 24 boars:— Winds—Strong to gale; northerly, backing to westerly, northward of New Plymouth and Castlepoint; northerly, backlog to southerly, elsewhere. Barometer—Falling tendency, but rising everywhere after from 10 to li hours. Seas—Heavy on all the western coast; rough northward of Bast Capo and between Castlepoint and Kaikoura: moderate swell elsewhere. Tides—High on all the western coast; good elsewhere. ■ ' Warning signals for northerrly gales are ex* hibited at Cape Maria Van.Diemen and Tiritin; and l«r • westerly at Castlepoint, Capo Campbell, tephen Island, Farewell Spit,, Capo Foulwind, and Nugget Point.
