LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL

The Legislative Council met to-day at 2.30 p.m.

The Coal Mines Amendment Bill was reported without t amendn/ent. . The Standing Orders were suspended to allow the Bill to go through all stages, the Leader of the Council remarking that it was necessary that the provisions should operate as soon as possible. The Petone and Lower Hutt Gas Lighting Bill was reported without amendment.

The Hauraki Plains Amendment Bill and the Canterbury College and Canterbury Agricultural College Amendment Bill were put through final stages and" passed without amendment.
