CARNIVAL AT NEWTOWN PARK

ENTERTAINMENTS CONCLUDED,

The highly successful programme of the Rotary Club for the entertainment ! of boys from eight years to eighteen years concluded late yesterday afternoon before a large attendance. The fact that there were as many as 220 entries in one event indicates the popularity of the sports gathering, and the youngsters will be looking to the Rotary Club in anticipation of their next big brother " effort. The club will have to plan something very special if they are to have a more happy and enthusiastic lot of youngsters than those who have patronised their functions over the week-end. Their efforts have met with the approbation of the public, as well as of the boys, and the club's officials and those who assisted them are to be congratulated on the great success which attended the programme. FOOTBALL. . i The final games in the primary school I tournament, commenced on Athletic Park yesterday morning, were played on Newtown Park yesterday afternoon before a large attendance. The Rugby game was between Newtown and Terrace, and an exciting match resulted in a win for Newtown by six points to three. Terrace scored a try, by Cookson, following which Newtown got two penalties, each of which Butler goaled. Mr. E. Bradley refereed. The two teams in the Association final were Marist and South Wellington B. The former were successful by one goal to nil, Nash piloting the ball between the posts. Mr. F. Thomas refereed. SPORTS.
