LONDON, 23rd September. Lord Oowdray's firm has secured a contract from the Soudan Government to build a dam two miles across the Blue Nile and to construct sixty-five miles of canals, irrigating 4,000,000 acres. The price is £4,000,000. [The dam will accomplish a longstanding project to irrigate a large area of fertile land between the Blue Nile, the White Nile, and the Atbara in the region of Khartoum. The purpose will be cotton-growing on a vast scale.]
