SPORTS AT NEWTOWN PARK
This afternoon there was a very large crowd of children, many accompanied by their parents, at Newtown Park, where a programme of 64 sports events was commenced. The early events consisted of heats in various events for boys under 15 years. > The programme contained every kind of contest likely to appeal to boys, from a 50 yard championship for boys of 8 years to a nail-driving competition fw boys of 11 years. Each event had numerous entries, heats and semi-finals being necessary in many of them. The programme was expected to last over four hours.
