ASHBT7RTON, This Day. The -weather is fine for the second day of the Ashburton: Racing Club's Spring Meeting. There is a large attendance. Rain ■ overnight improved the track. Results :— !
Rakaia Hurdles, of 125 soys; one mile and a half.—Cerebus, 9.13, 1; Falstaff, 12.8, 2; Mazama, 10.9, 3. All started. Won by "three lengths, with threequarters of a length between second and third horses. Time, 2min 47sec.
Fairfield Hack Handicap, of 175 soys; seven furlongs.—Ardour (7.11/ 1; Dianella, 7.3, 2; Warhue, 8:9, 3. Scratched : Dame Straitlace and Boadicea. Won by two .lengths, a head separating second and third. Time, lmin 23 2-ssec.
County Handicap, of 300 soys; one and a quarter miles.T-Boyal Mac, 8.13, 1; Foo Chow, 9.8, 2; Almoner, 3. All started. Won by two lengths, one and a half lengths bet-ween second and third. Time, 2min,Bsec. ' ■
Melrose Trot, of 130 sots; one mile.— Vera's Doll, 36yds behind, 1; Imshi, scr, 2; Lucky Pointer, scr, 3. Scratched : Brownwood. Won by two lengths, a neck separating i second and third. Time, 2min 41 2-sse,e.
