JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOLS
A promise that the Minister of Education would not erect junior high schools in districts where there are small secondary schools was sought by Mr. R. M'Cailum (Wairau) in the House of Representatives last night. "There is no intention of doing so," replied the Hon. C. J. Parr. Mr. M'Cailum, however, moved that the total vote for the Department be reduced by £1 as an indication that the House did not think the time opportune for the establishment of junior high schools. The proposal was rejected on the -voices.
