RAILWAY SUPERANNUATION.

Some railwaymen have been in'doubt os 1 to the amount they now have to contribute to the' Superannuation ' Fund— whether the contribution-is based on'the old scale of wages or the reduced scale. Mr. W. H. Field (Otaki) raised, the point in the House of Representatives when he suggested that some men had been paying on the old rate by mistake. Would these men, he asked, be entitled to a refund? The Minister of Railways replied that the railway servants had the .option ot paying on the old or the new scale of salaries; there was no compulsion at all. Mr. Field : "Will a refund be made if the payments" have been made in error?" The Minister : "Oh, no. If they have "been paying the higher rate they must have elected to do so."
