OVER-AGE PLAYERS.

The W.FJA. is greatly exercised in its mind as to what penalty is to be imposed upon clubs which put on to the field boys' teams in which one or more .players are over the age set for their particular grades, and though no definite action will be taken this year beyond the issuing'of a general warning to all clubs, it is probable that something'more convincing than a mere statement of age will be required when teams are' being got together in future, proliably a birth certificate will have to be produced. One speaker at the Management Committee's 1 meeting during the week said that he I believed that there was scarcely a junior team in Wellington which did not ofI fend in regard to over-age players, and, | manifestly, the teams which did -abide by the rules, were at a, disadvantage right through, an unfair disadvantage at that. It was decided that tie Ir*Btitute-Water-side fifth grade match should be replayed on account of the playing of a Waterside over-age boy, but the decision was not arrived'at until the question had been very thoroughly talked over and a; general agreement reached that the boy and his father were to blame in misi leading the club as to the player's age.

Foxton now has a j footEall association of its own, and a suggestion has been made that a' Wellington team should make a visit on Labour Day to play'an exhibition game and help things along. The W.F.A. is getting into touch with clubs to see whether a team can be sent as requested. ' ' The Welg&sco team has been touring, too, as far as Pahnerston, where they, defeated the {district's' best by five goals 1 to two. ■■'■', ' \ , ■ * ;' W. Hooper,' of the Philomel Club, andi an Auckland representative, has transferred to Otago, having joined tibe staff of the Seacliff Mental Hospital. This player is a ■fine,' dashing'forward, and narrowly missed selection ,in the New Zealand/team this seaewi. ' Aa it was he travelled from Auckland to Ihraedin and back again without his' sendees being utilised. '■!.■.■ -: .■■' :../'.■' ■■. -,
